Trendy Botox For Lips Christchurch

Botox has long been known for its ability to smooth out wrinkles and fine lines on the face. However, many people are now turning to Botox for a different purpose: to enhance their lips. In this blog post, we will discuss Botox for lips, including what it is, how it works, and what to expect from the procedure.

What is Botox for Lips?

Botox for lips, also known as a lip flip, is a fast, effective and simple cosmetic procedure. It involves injecting a small amount of Botox into the muscle that controls the upper lip. As a result, this muscle relaxes and the lip underneath this muscle rolls slightly outward. This creates the appearance of a fuller upper lip, without adding any volume to the lips themselves.

Dr Nadja Haub says:

Botox for the lips has become quite trendy over recent years and more and more people are searching for it on google. I think that the the popularity of the lip flip can be attributed to its non-invasive nature. It is also a quick and easy procedure that provides natural-looking results. On top of that, it is quite affordable and quite a few social media influencers have had it done, too.

Why has Botox For The Lips become so trendy?

The Botox lip flip has become trendy for several reasons. Here are some possible explanations:

  1. Non-invasive: Unlike lip fillers, which require injecting a substance right into the lips, a lip flip only involves injecting very tiny amounts of Botox into the muscles around the mouth. This makes it a less risky and less painful option for those looking to enhance their lips.
  2. Quick and easy: The lip flip procedure takes only a few minutes and can be done in a doctor’s office. This makes it a convenient option for people with busy schedules.
  3. Natural-looking results: With a skilled practitioner, a lip flip can create a subtle, natural-looking enhancement to the upper lip. There is no risk that your lips could end up looking overfilled or fake.
  4. Affordable: Compared to lip fillers, a lip flip is a more affordable option, making it accessible to a wider range of people. But do keep in mind that lip filler is more expensive but it also lasts longer. So the overall cost of both procedures may not be that different.
  5. Social media influence: Many people are influenced by social media trends and celebrity culture. The lip flip has been popularized by influencers and celebrities who have shared their own experiences with the lip flip on social media.

What does the Botox for the lips procedure involve?

If you never had Botox for the lips before or you are visiting a new clinic, make sure that you see a qualified doctor or nurse. This will allow you to discuss your goals and expectations and determine if a lip flip procedure is right for you. Here are the steps of this procedure explained:

  • The doctor applies a topical numbing cream to the area around the lips. This will reduce discomfort during the injection process.
  • Using a very fine needle, the doctor injects a small amount of Botox into the muscles around the mouth that control the upper lip.
  • Botox works by blocking signals from the nerves to the muscles. As a result, the muscles relax and roll slightly outward. This creates the appearance of a fuller upper lip.
  • The injection process takes only a few minutes and is relatively painless, with most people experiencing only minor discomfort.

The procedure is fast, simple and effective and you will be able to resume your daily activities straight after that.

Is Botox For The Lips Safe?

When performed by a qualified doctor or nurse, Botox for the lips is a very safe medical procedure. The most common problem that arises, is a mild feeling of numbness close to the upper lip. This usually lasts for one or two weeks and often happens when people have the lip flip for the first time.  Sometimes people report that they feel they can not drink properly from a straw, even though the lip movements are completely normal. This also subsides within one or two weeks but can very rarely last for 3 to 4 months.

Mild bruising and swelling can occur at the injection site, but this is quite uncommon and will usually resolve quickly. Very rarely, one side of the lip may look bigger or smaller compared to the other side. If this happens, it can easily be corrected with a small amount of extra Botox on the smaller side of the lip.

What results can I expect from Botox For The Lips?

Botox injections close to the lips typically do not increase the size of the lips by more than 1 to 3 mm. The primary purpose of Botox injections in the lips is to relax the muscles that cause puckering and contraction of the lips. This can help to smooth out the appearance of wrinkles and lines but the effects will be only mild.

If you are looking to achieve fuller or more voluminous lips, other treatments such as lip filler may be more appropriate. These treatments involve injecting a substance such as hyaluronic acid into the lips to add volume and improve their shape and contour.

Can Botox for the lips resolve the lines on top of my lips?

Botox can be used to treat barcode lines, also known as smoker’s lines. These are the vertical lines that appear on the upper lip. These lines can be caused by ageing, sun exposure, and smoking. If you have lines that you can see when you do not move your mouth, you may have to consider other treatment options.
