Dermamelan Prescription Only Treatment

Sometimes too much pigment (hyperpigmentation) occurs quite suddenly after pregnancy. But skin aging, use of the pill, the sun and menopause can also be a cause. Fortunately, in many cases we can really do something about it. Our dermal therapists investigate the cause of your pigmentation and work with you on a specific treatment plan.

Dermamelan, Your Doctor’s Exclusive Secret for Pigmentation Perfection!

Dermamelan is a cutting-edge and highly effective treatment specifically designed to address pigmentation issues, including melasma, dark spots, and hyperpigmentation. This dermatologist-prescribed procedure is renowned for delivering remarkable results in achieving a more even and radiant skin tone.

The Key Benefits of the Dermamelan Treatment are:

  1. Effective Pigmentation Reduction: Dermamelan is specifically formulated to target and reduce various forms of hyperpigmentation, including melasma, dark spots, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. The treatment inhibits melanin production, the pigment responsible for skin discolouration.
  2. Comprehensive Depigmentation: The treatment takes a multi-action approach by combining ingredients that inhibit melanin synthesis, stimulate cell turnover, and possess anti-inflammatory properties. This comprehensive approach contributes to more significant and lasting results.
  3. Professional Application: Dermamelan is administered by doctors in a clinical setting, ensuring precise and uniform application. The professional application contributes to the effectiveness and safety of the treatment.
  4. Customized Treatment Plans: Doctors can customize treatment plans based on the individual’s skin type, pigmentation concerns, and specific needs. This personalized approach enhances the likelihood of successful outcomes.
  5. Noticeable Results: Patients often report gradual but noticeable improvements in pigmentation, leading to a more even skin tone. Results become apparent in the weeks following the treatment, with continued improvement over time.
  6. More youthful, radiant and glowing skin: Dermamelan stimulates cell turnover, encouraging the removal of pigmented skin cells and promoting the growth of fresh, evenly toned skin. This contributes to a smoother and more youthful complexion.
  7. Versatility for Various Skin Types: Dermamelan is suitable for all skin types and colours, including people with dark skin.
  8. Professional Oversight: The treatment involves ongoing professional oversight by Dr Nadja Haub. Regular follow-up appointments allow adjustments to the skincare routine and ensure the treatment is progressing as expected.
  9. Boost in Self-Confidence: As pigmentation concerns diminish, many individuals experience a boost in self-confidence and satisfaction with their skin’s appearance, contributing to an overall improved quality of life.
  10. Long-Term Results: With proper post-treatment care and maintenance, Dermamelan can provide long-term results, helping individuals maintain a more even and radiant complexion.

It’s important for individuals considering Dermamelan treatment to have a thorough consultation with a qualified dermatologist. During this consultation, the dermatologist can assess the suitability of the treatment, discuss expected outcomes, and provide guidance on post-treatment care for optimal results.

Frequently asked questions about Dermamelan

Here’s an overview of how the Dermamelan treatment works:

In-Clinic Application:

Consultation

The process typically begins with a consultation with a doctor at Satini Cosmetic Clinic. During this consultation, we assess your skin type, specific concerns, and medical history to ensure you can safely have Dermamelan treatment.

Application of Depigmenting Mask

In our clinic, the first step involves the application of the Dermamelan mask. This mask contains a combination of active ingredients, which may include azelaic acid, kojic acid, phytic acid, ascorbic acid, and other botanical extracts with depigmenting properties.

Absorption and Stimulation

You will have to keep the mask on for 4 hours. You can wash it off at home with lukewarm water.

Peeling Effect-On Day 3 To 5

After a few days, the mask induces a peeling effect, promoting the shedding of the outermost layer of the skin. This helps remove existing pigmented cells and encourages the growth of new, more evenly pigmented skin growth.

At-Home Programme

You maintain your skin at home for another three months. This involves using three different skincare products every day to your skin.

We will supply you with the Dermamelan Home Pack at no extra charge.

This pack contains three products that further reduce pigmentation and prevent it from reoccurring.

Hydroquinone-Free

Dermamelan is formulated without the use of hydroquinone, a common depigmenting agent. Hydroquinone is known for its skin-lightening properties but may cause irritation in some individuals, and its use is restricted in New Zealand. In New Zealand, hydroquinone is only available as a prescription medicine.

Yes, Dermamelan stands out as a promising solution for addressing melasma, especially in cases where traditional treatments such as laser therapy or intense pulsed light (IPL) have proven less effective.

One scientific study in 2011 showed that Dermamelan can reduce melasma by 50%.

Dermamelan and Cosmelan are both depigmentation treatments, and while they share similarities, there are notable differences between the two. One significant distinction lies in the potency and duration of application:

  1. Potency:
    • Dermamelan: Generally considered more potent than Cosmelan, Dermamelan contains a combination of powerful depigmenting agents, including kojic acid, arbutin, salicylic acid, and other active ingredients. This potent formula is designed to treat deeper and more difficult-to-treat types of pigmentation.
    • Cosmelan: While also containing potent depigmenting agents, Cosmelan treats more superficial types of pigmentation.
  2. Application Duration:
    • Dermamelan: Known for its quicker application process, Dermamelan typically requires the mask to be applied for a shorter duration, usually around 4 hours. This makes it a more convenient option for individuals with busy schedules or those seeking a faster in-office treatment experience.
    • Cosmelan: In contrast, the Cosmelan treatment involves a longer application period, typically ranging from 8 to 10 hours. Patients undergoing Cosmelan may need to leave the mask on for a more extended period, often overnight, before removing it.
  3. Downtime

It’s worth noting that the downtime, or the period of recovery and potential side effects following a Dermamelan mask application, can sometimes be longer compared to Cosmelan. The intensity and potency of Dermamelan may lead to more pronounced reactions during the initial stages of the treatment. With both masks, people develop redness, swelling and peeling of the skin after 3 to 5 days. Some people may have to take time off work during those days to allow more rest.

A few people undergoing a Dermamelan mask treatment may experience downtime, particularly during days 3 to 5 post-application. This period is characterized by potential redness, irritation, and peeling as the skin responds to the active depigmenting agents in the treatment.

The intensity and effectiveness of Dermamelan may lead to more pronounced reactions during this phase of the treatment. Redness and irritation are common as the skin undergoes depigmentation. On top of that, peeling may occur as the outer layers of the skin are shed to reveal the newly treated skin underneath.

While the downtime can vary from person to person, some people may find it necessary to allow for a few days of recovery during this period.

It’s crucial that you follow the post-treatment care instructions diligently. These instructions include specific at-home skincare products to support the healing process, minimize discomfort, and optimize the treatment results.

Dermamelan is generally considered a safe and effective depigmentation treatment such as melasma and sunspots. However, like any medical or cosmetic procedure, there is a potential for adverse effects, albeit rare. One uncommon but possible complication associated with Dermamelan treatment is post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH).

Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH): In rare instances, Dermamelan may trigger post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. This condition involves the development of dark spots or pigmentation in response to the inflammation caused by the treatment. Individuals with a higher predisposition to pigmentation irregularities may be more susceptible to this side effect.

Other Potential Side Effects

While extremely uncommon, other potential side effects of Dermamelan may include:

  1. Allergic Reactions: Some individuals may have allergic reactions to specific ingredients in the Dermamelan formulation.
  2. Prolonged Redness or Irritation: Some people may experience prolonged redness or irritation beyond the expected downtime.

Preventive Measures and Risk Mitigation

To minimize the risk of complications, it’s crucial for you to

  • Undergo a Comprehensive Consultation: A thorough consultation with a qualified skincare professional or dermatologist can help identify potential risk factors and determine the suitability of the treatment.
  • Provide Medical History: Disclose any pre-existing skin conditions, allergies, or sensitivities to ensure a personalized and safe treatment plan.
  • Adhere to Post-Treatment Care: Following the recommended post-treatment care instructions is essential for minimizing the risk of adverse effects and optimizing results.

While complications with Dermamelan are rare, any concerns or unexpected reactions should be promptly communicated to the treating skincare professional. They can provide guidance, monitor the situation, and take appropriate steps to address any issues that may arise during or after the treatment.
