Non-Surgical Facelift Christchurch

Maintaining a youthful appearance can be a challenge as we age, but with the help of non-surgical cosmetic procedures, it’s becoming easier to achieve. One such individual who has been able to maintain her appearance is Katrina. Let’s take a closer look at how she’s done it.

Katrina is a 40-year-old woman who has always been conscientious about taking care of her skin. She follows a high-quality skincare regimen and makes sure to drink plenty of water and get enough sleep. On top of that, she occasionally had Botox to improve fine lines and wrinkles between her eyebrows and around the eyes.

She considered facelift surgery, but the thought of undergoing an invasive procedure was daunting, and she was looking for a less drastic solution. Katrina considered dermal fillers to address her concerns. She had heard positive things about dermal fillers and was excited about the possibility of restoring volume to her face. However, after consulting with Dr Nadja Haub at Satini Cosmetic Clinic, Katrina learned about thread lifts and decided to give them a try.

What is a non-surgical facelift with PDO threads?

Thread lifts are a non-surgical procedure that uses dissolvable threads to lift and tighten sagging skin. A doctor or qualified nurse will gently insert the threads under the skin. The lifting threads have little hooks attached to them and once they are inserted under the skin, these hooks pierce the skin. The doctor then gently pulls the threads up and as a result, the skin attached to them will be lifted.

Over the next 3 to 4 months, the threads will be dissolved and turn into carbon dioxide. But by then, they have stimulated the production of enough collagen to keep the skin lifted. This results in a more youthful and radiant complexion.

Katrina was impressed with the information she received about thread lifts and was excited to try the procedure.

What happens during a PDO Threadlift?

Katrina arrived 30 minutes early. This allowed Dr Nadja Haub enough time to apply a powerful numbing cream that combines several local anaesthetics for superior pain relief.

  • After that, we thoroughly cleaned Katrina’s face with a gentle skin disinfectant. This helps prevent infections.
  • Dr Nadja Haub then marked the areas where the PDO threads will be inserted.
  • The PDO threads are thin, dissolvable threads made of a synthetic material called polydioxanone. These are then inserted into the skin using a fine needle.
  • Once the threads are in place, the doctor will gently tug on them to lift and tighten the skin.
  • Once the desired lifting effect is achieved, the excess threads are trimmed off.
  • The procedure usually takes around 30 minutes to an hour.  return to their normal activities immediately after the procedure.
  • Over time, the PDO threads will dissolve, but the lifting effect can last for several months to a year or more.
  • Patients may experience some mild swelling, bruising, or discomfort after the procedure, but these side effects typically resolve within a few days to a week.

Katrina returned to her normal activities immediately after the procedure. The process was quick and only slightly uncomfortable. She was able to return to her daily activities immediately after and just needed slightly more rest than usual. The results were noticeable immediately, and Katrina felt like her face appeared lifted and more youthful.

After the non-surgical thread lift

Over the next few weeks, Katrina’s body naturally absorbed the threads. While the threads are being absorbed, they stimulate a lot of collagen in the skin. This results in a significant improvement in the appearance of  Katrina’s cheeks and jawline. Her overall face appeared more lifted, younger and fresher. She certainly did very well.

Katrina was delighted with the results and felt like the procedure was a better fit for her than dermal fillers. She appreciated that the procedure was non-surgical and that she improved her appearance naturally.
