Non Surgical Facelift NZ
Corrin is a 59-year-old woman who has recently noticed a significant change in the appearance of her face. She has always taken pride in her looks and has always been complimented for looking younger than her actual age. However, over the past few months, she has noticed that her face looks more saggy and tired than usual.
In the past, Corrin had a few cosmetic treatments to maintain her appearance. But over the last few years, she only used good skin care. She raised 6 children who have become independent adults by now. At this current stage in her life, she would like to do more for herself again.
Corrin has considered various options to improve the appearance of her face, including cosmetic surgery. However, she is hesitant to undergo an invasive procedure like a surgical facelift. This would involve general anaesthesia and cost her a lot of money. She, therefore, saw Dr Nadja Haub to look at other options to improve her facial sagging.
What is facial sagging?
Moderate facial sagging is often caused by the sagging of fat pads in the face. The fat pads in our face play a vital role in keeping our skin firm and youthful-looking. These pads are situated under the skin, and they provide the face with volume and structure. As we age, these fat pads begin to sag, and this can result in a loss of volume. As a result of this process, the face can look older and more tired.
The sagging of fat pads can be caused by various factors, including genetics, sun damage, smoking, and lifestyle habits. On top of that, as we age, the collagen and elastin fibres in our skin begin to break down. This can result in a loss of skin elasticity. This, in turn, can cause the fat pads in our faces to sag even more, resulting in a loss of volume and structure.
Additionally, factors such as weight fluctuations, hormonal changes, and stress can also contribute to the sagging of fat pads.
Various treatments can address moderate facial sagging caused by sagging fat pads. Non-surgical options such as dermal fillers can help to lift and support sagging fat pads, resulting in a more youthful-looking appearance. Another option that is becoming more popular in NZ is the non-surgical facelift with PDO Threads.
Surgical options such as facelifts can also address moderate to severe facial sagging. A surgical facelift involves tightening and repositioning the underlying muscles and tissues of the face. This results is a lift.
What are the benefits of a PDO Threadlift for improving facial sagging?
There are numerous benefits to undergoing a PDO threadlift for improving facial sagging. These include:
- Non-surgical: A PDO threadlift is a minimally invasive procedure that does not require incisions or general anaesthesia, making it a safer and less invasive alternative to traditional facelifts.
- Natural-looking results: PDO threads are carefully placed to lift and tighten the sagging skin, creating a natural-looking lift that enhances the contours of the face.
- Quick recovery time: Unlike traditional facelifts, which require a longer recovery time, a PDO threadlift has a quick recovery time. Patients can typically return to their normal activities within a few days of the procedure.
- Long-lasting results: The collagen production stimulated by the PDO threads provides long-lasting results, with the effects lasting for up to 12 to 18 months.

Corrin’s free initial consultation
During her initial consultation, Dr Nadja Haub examined Corrin’s face. She determined together with Corrin that a combination of a PDO thread lift and dermal filler would be the most effective. She explained that the PDO thread lift would lift and tighten her skin, while the dermal filler would restore volume to her cheeks and enhance her facial contours.
Corrin was happy with the plan and made an appointment for her procedure. The plan was for Corrin to have the dermal filler first, followed by the thread lift.
Corrin’s dermal filler appointment
On the day of her appointment, Dr Nadja Haub carefully injected the dermal filler into her cheeks. To do this, she used a precise technique to ensure a natural-looking result that complemented her facial features.
The treatment only took about 30 minutes. After that, Corrin was able to return to her normal activities immediately afterwards. She noticed an immediate improvement in the appearance of her cheeks, which had a fuller and more youthful appearance. On top of that, she also noticed quite a remarkable lifting effect. Over the next few days, her result improved even more as the filler settled into place.
Dermal filler is a safe and effective treatment for restoring volume to the face and enhancing facial contours. It is a minimally invasive office procedure that has little to no downtime. The results of the treatment can last for up to 12 to 18 months, depending on which type of filler you had and what areas of the face are being treated.
Corrin’s second appointment for the Non-Surgical Facelift with PDO Threads
Corrin returned 40 minutes early for her second appointment to get her non-surgical facelift. This was so Dr Nadja Haub could apply numbing cream to her face before the procedure.
After that, Dr Nadja Haub gently injected a local anaesthetic to further numb the areas being treated. The goal was for Corrin to only have mild discomfort during the procedure. Dr Nadja Haub then carefully inserted the PDO threads into her skin using a fine needle. Corrin felt only minimal discomfort during the procedure, and the entire process took about an hour.
After the procedure, Corrin was able to return to her normal activities immediately. She noticed quite a bit of swelling after the procedure but this improved quite quickly over a few hours. Her skin appeared lifted and more youthful. The results of the treatment continued to improve over the next few months as the threads dissolved and collagen production was stimulated.
PDO thread lifts are a safe and effective non-surgical treatment for lifting and tightening sagging skin. It is a minimally invasive procedure that can be performed in a doctor’s office and has little to no downtime. The results of the treatment can last for up to 18 months, depending on the patient’s skin and the areas being treated.
Can PDO Threads cause any problems?
While PDO thread facelifts can provide you with many benefits, there are also some potential disadvantages to consider. We will describe a few complications but please bear in mind that if you go to an experienced cosmetic doctor, these risks will be low.
These include:
- Infection and other risks: Like any medical procedure, a PDO thread facelift carries some risk of infection. You can limit this risk by going to an experienced doctor and a clinic with high hygiene standards.
- Uneven results: While PDO thread facelifts can provide effective lifting and tightening of the skin, there may be a risk that the results may be uneven or lumpy. This can happen if the threads shift or are not being placed correctly.
- Bruising and swelling: Some bruising and swelling are normal after a PDO thread facelift. But sometimes it can be more pronounced in some individuals. This may make it difficult for you to return to normal activities right away. Occasionally, people may require time off work or other commitments.
- Cost: PDO thread facelifts can be more expensive than other non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedures.
- Limited duration of results: While PDO thread facelifts can provide immediate lifting and tightening of the skin, the results may only last for a few months to a year. To maintain the results, you may require additional treatments.
It’s important that you carefully weigh the potential risks and benefits of a PDO thread facelift before you decide whether to undergo the procedure.
