Are you concerned about dark circles under your eyes and hoody eyelids as you age?  This is part of the normal ageing process, but it can make you look more tired and even unhappy, even though you are not.  Your own, valuable growth factors from your blood can help improve dark circles and hoody eyelids.

Many factors can cause dark circles under the eyes such as

  • stress
  • poor nutrition and health
  • a lack of sleep
  • Low iron levels

There are three factors that cause bigger dark circles under the eyes:

Our skin becomes thinner

But as we age, our skin becomes thinner and this is most visible under the eyes. This is because the skin under our eyes is already thinner compared to other parts of our bodies. On top of that, lots of tiny, little vessels which tend to be of blueish colour, are lying right underneath the skin. As we age, the skin becomes even thinner and the blueish vessels shine through more. As a result, we notice dark circles under the eyes, even though we do not feel tired.

The tiny fat pads under our eyes start sagging

Another contributing factor is, that the tiny, little fat pads all people have under the eyes, start sagging. The sagging fat pads pull the skin under the eyes downwards. This makes dark circles look bigger.

The bones around the eyesocket become thinner

The bones around the eyes become thinner as we age. Our eyes lie inside a bony cavity and this cavity gets bigger when the bones become thinner.  As a result, our eyes appear more hollow and smaller.

Your blood contains valuable and potent growth factors. These growth factors can stimulate collagen in your skin, an important building block.

The extra collagen makes your skin tighter and thicker. This improves dark circles under the eyes and helps lift saggy eyelids. To improve your treatment results, we often mix the growth factors with a skin booster. The skin booster contains minerals, vitamins and amino acids that help the skin rejuvenate itself.

You can also combine the treatment with dermal fillers for the cheek. This will lift the saggy fat pads underneath your eyes and make your eyes look less hollow.

As for the blood facial, the procedure to enhance your eyes also requires three steps. But usually, only one vial of plasma is required.

First, a medical professional will take a blood sample from you. After that, we put it into a centrifuge to separate the red cells from the plasma. We then mix the plasma with our high-quality NCTF® skin booster.  This booster contains lots of vitamins, minerals and amino acids and further boosts the growth factors

Second, we will gently re-inject the mix into the skin around your eyes and on top of your eyelid. For this, we use an ultra-gentle nanosoft® needle. Once the plasma is in, it begins to do its work of rejuvenating your eyes, tightening wrinkled areas, improving dark circles under the eyes and lifting droopy eyelids.

Third, we like to combine this procedure with medical micro-needling.  This will provide you with an additional lifting effect and help introduce valuable vitamins, amino acids and minerals into your skin.

The eye treatment will be finished with an ultra-relaxing, cooling face mask from our high-quality DP® range. So that you feel you had a nice treat rather than a medical procedure.

The treatment is a very safe procedure if performed by a qualified medical professional. As we use your own blood for this procedure, it is impossible to have an allergic reaction.

It can happen that you develop some bruising or swelling at an injection site. This will usually disappear after a few days or a week. It is important that you do not drink any alcohol, take anti-inflammatories, turmeric or fish oil within 2 days of the procedure to prevent bruising

There was an HIV scare linked to the procedure a few years ago in the US. This was because non-sterilized equipment was used. We only use one-way equipment that will be discarded after each treatment. On top of that, we disinfect all equipment and the treatment room between procedures according to strict NZ Health And Safety Standards.

Yes, you can combine this treatment with dermal filler or Botox. But it is best to leave at least 14 to 28 days between these different treatments.

When we inject the dermal filler into the cheeks, we also lift the tiny sagging fat pads under your eyes. As a result, the dermal filler also reduces dark circles and hollow-looking eyes. If you choose to have both treatments, you have to have them at least 2 weeks apart.
