The Vampire Facial uses your own platelets and plasma to naturally rejuvenate your appearance.

The procedure requires three steps.

First, a medical professional will take a blood sample from you and put it into a centrifuge. This process will separate out the red cells from your blood and leave the valuable plasma for your treatment.

Second, the doctor will reinject the plasma into your skin with an ultra-gentle needle.

Once the plasma is skilfully placed in your skin, it begins to do its work and gently rejuvenates your entire face. The plasma helps tighten wrinkled areas and even out your overall skin texture. This is because the plasma contains essential growth factors that stimulate collagen, the most important building brick of the skin.

Third, we combine this procedure with medical micro-needling as it will give you an additional lifting effect.  On top of that, the procedure helps introduce valuable vitamins, amino acids and minerals into your skin.

The facial will be given an ultra-relaxing finish with a high-quality, cooling face mask from our DP range. By the end of the treatment, you will feel you had a nice treat rather than a medical procedure.

You can not get an allergic reaction because the plasma comes from your own body. No harsh chemicals or foreign substances are required.

Pain and discomfort are minimal and very little downtime, if any, is required.

Results take a while to show up, especially when you get this facial for the first time. Most people notice a generalized tightening of the skin within a few days. After that, the skin slowly develops a glow and fullness to the entire face.  Over the next few weeks, you will notice an overall healthier look, and many people feel and look fresher and younger. In total, it usually takes approximately 3 months for the full result to show.

Results last several months up to one or two years. That’s why many people choose to have PRP facials once or twice per year to maintain their results. But it is possible to have a blood facial more frequently than this.

If you have never had this treatment before, it’s best to have three treatments at four to eight-week intervals to start. After that, you can maintain your initial result with 6 monthly to annual blood facials.

Blood facials are a very safe procedure if they are performed by a qualified medical professional. As your own plasma is used for this procedure it is impossible to have an allergic reaction.

It can happen that you develop some bruising or swelling at an injection site. This will usually disappear after a few days or a week. It is important that you do not drink any alcohol, take anti-inflammatories, turmeric or fish oil within 2 days of the procedure to prevent bruising

There was an HIV scare linked to the procedure a few years ago in the US. This was because non-sterilized equipment was used. At SATINI Cosmetic Clinic, we only use one-way equipment. After your treatment,  we discard all products that came in contact with your blood.  All other equipment and the treatment room will be disinfected and cleaned between procedures according to the strict New Zealand health and safety standards.

No. It would be impossible to place facial injectables precisely during or after a PRP facial. There would also be a high risk that dermal filler becomes infected if combined with a plasma facial. It is best to leave at least two weeks if not one month between a PRP facial and other dermal injectable treatments.

Please make sure that you arrive approximately 20 to 40 minutes before your procedure at our clinic. This is so we can apply some numbing cream to your face. The actual procedure usually takes 45 minutes up to one hour. This includes a relaxing and cooling face mask after the procedure.

We also like to offer you tea on our premises so that you can recover from your procedure and recollect yourself. If you wish to apply makeup, we supply you with our own, sterile makeup that reduces the likelihood of infections.

On the day of the treatment, you can just eat your normal breakfast but please do not drink any coffee or caffeinated drinks as this can increase your risk to get any bruising. Most people do not require much downtime after a blood facial but we do recommend that you allow yourself to rest for a day or so. Some people go back to work after this facial but, to be on the safe side, we recommend that you have the facial on your day off or in the evening.

It is important that you

  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 2 or 3 days
  • Do not touch your face
  • Do not take any anti-inflammatories
  • You can take paracetamol or codeine should you have any pain
  • Do not take any supplements that thin your blood (turmeric, fish oil, omega 3 acids)
