Active Ingredients
Clay
Kaolin is a type of clay that is commonly used in skincare products. It is a natural, white, soft, and porous mineral that is found in soils around the world. In skincare products, Kaolin is used for its absorbent properties, as it can effectively remove excess oil and impurities from the skin.
Natural Peels
Salicylic Acid is often used to unclog pores and exfoliate the skin. By penetrating deep into the pores, it helps to dissolve the build-up of oil, dirt, and other impurities, reducing the risk of breakouts. Additionally, its anti-inflammatory properties can help to soothe red, irritated skin and improve the appearance of acne.
Mandelic Acid is a type of alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) that is derived from almonds. It is a gentle exfoliant. Because of its larger molecular size, Mandelic Acid is gentler on the skin compared to other AHAs like glycolic acid. In acne, it helps to unclog pores and remove excess sebum.
Plant Based Extracts
Shikimic Acid is found in small amounts in various foods, including star anise and turmeric and a variety of plants. It is sometimes used for its potential anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It is believed to help protect the skin from free radical damage, which can cause signs of ageing.
Disodium Azelate is a type of salt that is derived from azelaic acid. A variety of grains such as wheat, barley, and rye contain azelaic acid. In skin care, Disodium Azelate is sometimes used as a gentle exfoliant that helps to remove dead skin cells and improve the appearance of the skin. It may also help to reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation and improve skin texture.
Hydrators and Moisturisers
Paraffinum Liquidum is a mineral oil that is often used in a variety of skincare products. It is a lightweight oil that helps to soften and smooth the skin, and it can also be used to help keep the skin hydrated. It is commonly found in lotions, creams, ointments, and other skin care products.
Glycerin is a humectant, meaning it helps skin retain moisture by drawing water from the air into the skin’s outer layer. It‘s often used in moisturizers, cleansers, and other skin care products to hydrate and soften the skin. Glycerin is also a by–product of the soap–making process, so it‘s commonly found in cleansers and bar soaps.
Other Ingredients
Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is a naturally occurring mineral used as a pigment in many products, including cosmetics. It is also used in some acne treatments as it has been found to reduce the development of acne and offer anti–inflammatory benefits. It is a very effective and safe ingredient when used properly.
BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene) is an antioxidant used in skincare products to help protect against environmental damage, like UV rays and pollution. It is also used to help preserve the product itself and keep it from going bad.
