What is Cosmelan?

A complete programme, not a one-off peel

Cosmelan is a professional depigmentation programme from Mesoestetic. It is designed to reduce visible pigment and help regulate the processes that allow pigment to return.

You start with a professional mask at Satini. You then continue with a structured home-care plan for several months. This home phase is essential. It supports skin renewal and helps you maintain your improvement.

Why patients choose it: Cosmelan treats more than the colour you see today. It combines an intensive clinic treatment with daily pigment control at home.

Cosmelan may help you with:

  • Melasma
  • Hormonal pigmentation
  • Pregnancy-related pigmentation
  • Sunspots and dark spots
  • Post-inflammatory pigmentation
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Dull, tired-looking skin
  • Stubborn or recurring pigment

Your Cosmelan journey

What happens step by step

You always know what to expect. We guide you through preparation, the mask, recovery and long-term maintenance.

Doctor consultation

We assess your pigment pattern, skin sensitivity, current products and medical history. We also check that Cosmelan is suitable for you.

Skin preparation

You receive clear instructions about products to pause and how to prepare your skin before treatment.

In-clinic mask

We cleanse and prepare your skin, then apply the Cosmelan mask. You leave the clinic wearing it and remove it at home after the time your doctor prescribes.

Recovery phase

Your skin may feel hot, tight, dry and sensitive. Peeling is expected. You use the calming and protective products exactly as directed.

Home programme

You continue pigment-control products and SPF 50+. We adjust the routine if your skin becomes too irritated.

Results and recovery

What you may notice after Cosmelan

01

The first few days

You may notice redness, warmth, tightness and dryness. Peeling often becomes more visible over the next few days.

02

The first few weeks

Your skin may look brighter and more even. Dark patches can start to soften as your skin renews.

03

The following months

Your result can continue to improve when you follow the home programme and protect your skin from UV and visible light.

Pigmentation can return. Melasma, sunspots and post-inflammatory pigment can recur because of sun exposure, hormones, heat, ageing, inflammation or medication. Daily sunscreen and maintenance care are part of the treatment—not an optional extra.

Cosmelan, Dermamelan, Kligman Solution or IPL?

Frequently asked questions

Your Cosmelan questions answered

Is Cosmelan a peel?

People often call it a Cosmelan peel, but it is more accurate to describe it as a complete depigmentation programme. The professional mask starts the process. Your home-care programme then continues pigment control for several months.

How long do I leave the Cosmelan mask on?

Your doctor gives you a specific removal time based on your skin and treatment plan. You leave the clinic wearing the mask and wash it off at home at the instructed time.

How much downtime should I expect?

Most people have redness, tightness, dryness and peeling for several days. Your skin can remain sensitive for longer. Plan your treatment away from important social events.

When will I see results?

You may begin to see brighter, more even-looking skin within a few weeks. Improvement can continue over several months as you follow the home programme.

Can Cosmelan treat melasma?

Yes. Cosmelan is commonly used for melasma and hormonal pigmentation. Melasma is a chronic condition, so you will still need daily sun protection and ongoing maintenance. Read more about melasma treatment at Satini.

Can pigmentation come back?

Yes. Any pigmentation can return. Sun exposure, hormones, heat, ageing and inflammation can reactivate it. We help you build a maintenance plan with sunscreen, medical-grade skincare and other treatments when appropriate.

How often can I repeat Cosmelan?

Many people need only one full programme. A repeat treatment may be considered if pigmentation returns, often no more frequently than every 12–24 months. Your doctor will assess your skin before recommending another mask.

Is Cosmelan suitable for every skin type?

Cosmelan can be used across many skin tones, but it is not suitable for every person or every skin condition. Your doctor will review sensitivity, active dermatitis, allergies, medications, pregnancy and breastfeeding before treatment.

What is the difference between Cosmelan and Dermamelan?

Both target excess pigmentation. Dermamelan is a more intensive medical programme and may be chosen for resistant melasma or complex pigment. Your doctor will recommend the option that best fits your skin, downtime and goals.
