What is Dermamelan?

A complete medical pigmentation programme

Dermamelan is a professional depigmentation method from Mesoestetic. It is used to improve acquired pigmentation on the face, including melasma, hormonal pigment and stubborn uneven tone.

The treatment has two connected parts. First, your doctor applies the professional mask. You then use Dermamelan treatment cream and supportive products at home. Continuous home care helps reduce visible spots and helps prevent them from reappearing.

Why the home phase matters: The mask starts the process. Your daily routine keeps controlling pigment while your skin renews.

Dermamelan may suit you if you have:

  • Melasma
  • Hormonal pigmentation
  • Pregnancy-related pigment
  • Dark spots and sun damage
  • Post-inflammatory pigmentation
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Recurring pigmentation
  • Stubborn pigment after other treatments

Important to know

Dermamelan is an intensive treatment. Redness, sensitivity, swelling, dryness and peeling can occur. Rarely, inflammation can worsen pigmentation. You must follow your doctor’s instructions and contact Satini if your reaction is stronger than expected.

Dermamelan is not suitable for everyone. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, active dermatitis, recent procedures, allergies and some medicines may affect suitability. Your consultation is essential.

Dermamelan vs other pigmentation treatments

Which option may suit you?

The best choice depends on whether your pigment is melasma, sun damage, post-inflammatory pigment or a mixture of concerns.

Frequently asked questions

Your Dermamelan questions answered

Your consultation is the best place to discuss your skin, risks, expected recovery and realistic results.

What is Dermamelan?

Dermamelan is a professional medical depigmentation programme from Mesoestetic. It combines an in-clinic mask with a structured home-care phase to reduce visible pigmentation and help control its return.

What can Dermamelan treat?

It may help with melasma, hormonal pigmentation, sun damage, dark spots, post-inflammatory pigmentation and an uneven skin tone. Your doctor will first check what type of pigmentation you have.

How long do I leave the mask on?

The Dermamelan mask is usually left on for about four hours. You remove it at home exactly as instructed by your doctor.

Is there downtime?

You may have redness, tightness, dryness and peeling. This often becomes more noticeable around days three to five. Your recovery can be milder or stronger depending on your skin response.

When will I see results?

Many people notice a brighter and more even appearance over the first few weeks. Improvement can continue during the three-month home programme.

Is Dermamelan better than Cosmelan?

Neither treatment is best for everyone. Dermamelan uses a shorter mask time and is selected for suitable stubborn or recurrent pigmentation. Cosmelan remains an excellent option for many patients. Your doctor will recommend the programme that suits your skin, lifestyle and tolerance for downtime.

Does Dermamelan contain hydroquinone?

The Dermamelan programme used by Satini is presented as hydroquinone-free. If a prescription hydroquinone product would suit you better, your doctor may discuss a separate medically supervised option.

Can Dermamelan treat melasma?

Dermamelan is often chosen for melasma and other persistent pigment concerns. Melasma is a long-term condition, so sun protection and maintenance care remain important even after a good improvement.

Can pigmentation come back?

Yes. Pigmentation can return because of sunlight, hormones, inflammation, ageing, medications or genetics. Daily SPF and the recommended maintenance routine help protect your result.

Is Dermamelan suitable for every skin tone?

Dermamelan can be considered for a wide range of skin tones. A doctor consultation is essential because your pigment type, sensitivity and risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation must be assessed first.

How much does Dermamelan cost at Satini?

Satini’s current Dermamelan page lists a complete programme at $2,500 NZD. Please confirm the current price when booking, as packages and inclusions can change.
