Antioxidants

Tocopherol (Vitamin E) is an antioxidant. It helps protect your skin from environmental factors that are known to have a harmful effect on the skin. This vitamin also helps lock in moisture and keep all skin types happy and hydrated – even dry skin.

Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid 20%) is one of the most powerful antioxidants. It protects your skin from air pollution, sun damage, and other premature agers. As we age vitamin C levels inside our skin become depleted. As a result, our skin becomes more prone to damage from pollution and harmful UV rays. On top of that, our skin produces less collagen. When you apply vitamin C to the skin, it restores the skin’s vitamin C content. The extra vitamin C encourages the skin to grow new collagen and it becomes thicker, healthier and more youthful.

Hydrating Ingredients

Dimethicone is a silicone derivate that does not clog skin pores. This ingredient is made of large molecules that can not penetrate the skin but rather form a film on top of your skin. The Cosmetic Ingredient Review Panel has found that dimethicone is safe in concentrations up to 25 %. It gives skin a smooth and hydrated feel.

BHT is commonly used in skin care products as an antioxidant. There were some concerns in the past that BHT is toxic but several studies have shown that BHT is safe to use in low concentrations and that it is not absorbed by the skin.

Glycerin is a natural substance derived from vegetable oils or animal fats. It’s a clear, colourless, odourless and syrupy liquid with a sweet taste. A 2016 study showed that glycerin is one of the most potent moisturisers for skin, becoming even more potent if combined with hyaluronic acid.

Urea is a substance that naturally occurs on the surface of the skin. It is an active part of our Natural Moisturising Factor (NMF), which functions to keep our skin plump, supple and healthy.

Allantoin is a natural product that is derived from sugar beet, chamomile or wheat sprouts, but it can also be produced in a lab. Allantoin is a gentle and non-irritating anti-inflammatory. On top of that, it is also a moisturiser. This combination makes it ideal for sensitive or irritated skin.

Isopropyl Myristate is a popular ingredient in a wide range of cosmetic products. It is a synthetic oil that deeply moisturises the skin but also helps active ingredients penetrate deeper into the skin.

Sodium Hyaluronate is derived from hyaluronic acid but it is a much smaller molecule. Like hyaluronic acid, sodium hyaluronate is incredibly hydrating. But because it is so small, this form can penetrate deeper into the skin. Due to that, it can hydrate skin from deep within and makes it look plumper, more hydrated and radiant. 

Anti Wrinkle Ingredients

Sodium DNA is a form of DNA that was extracted from the testicles of male sturgeons.  This DNA is then purified and neutralized with sodium hydroxide. It is a popular ingredient in cosmetic products as it reduces wrinkle formation and has an anti-ageing effect.
