Do you want to enhance and define your lips in a natural way? Choose MINT Mono Threads.

MINT threads enhance and define lips in the most natural way possible.

Tiny, little threads are gently inserted along your lip line. There they stimulate collagen and help to define and enhance the appearance of your lip. In contrast to lip filler, this temporary treatment does not add volume to your lips but rather defines and enhances their contour. This leaves you with a subtle and natural result.

What exactly are MINT Threads?

MINT Threads are tiny, little surgical threads. They are made from PDO (polydiaxone) which has been used by surgeons to stitch up tissues for more than 30 years. They are unique in the sense that they self-absorb over a period of 3 to 4 months after the insertion. This is a great advantage for surgeons because they do not need to operate on the patient again just to remove the stitches.

MINT Threads have become increasingly popular in cosmetic medicine since the 1980’s. There are two different types of threads available.

Type One- This type of MINT thread has got hooks attached to it. These tiny little hooks are able to pierce into the skin. When the doctor performs a MINT Thread lift with these types of threads, he/she gently pulls up the threads once they are inserted under the skin. As a result, the skin that is attached to the tiny hooks will also be pulled upwards. This provides your face with a lift.

Type Two– There is another type of thread called the MONO Thread. This thread does not have any hooks and will therefore only be used by aesthetic doctors to stimulate collagen in your skin. When your skin produces more collagen, it appears thicker, healthier and less wrinkly.

How do MINT Mono Threads improve my lips?

There are two main reasons why people would like to improve their lips. For younger people, this is usually because they want their lips to look more beautiful, fuller and more defined. As we age, our lips generally become thinner and they start to lose definition which means that the border between the red lip and the white lip becomes less visible.

When the doctor inserts the tiny, little MINT Threads along the border of your lips, the threads start to stimulate collagen over time. The skin will become thicker and provide more definition to your lips.

How does the procedure work?

The MINT Lip Enhancement is a simple procedure that only lasts approximately 30 minutes.

First- we will first apply a numbing cream to your lips. After that, we will inject some local anaesthetic into the entry point of the thread close to the corners of your mouth. Once the local anaesthetic is working, we will gently insert the threads along your upper and/or lower lip line.

The goal is for you to not feel any pain during the procedure. It is normal to feel a bit of pulling and pressure though. Please let us know if you feel pain during the procedure, and in rare circumstances, we can perform a nerve block as dentists do. This would completely numb your lip and last for a few hours.

Second-Once your lips are not sensitive to pain anymore, the doctor will gently insert the 10 mm long, tiny threads along your lip lines.

After That– The mint pdo threads will start to dissolve over the next 3 to 4 months. While they dissolve, they stimulate the build-up of collagen. This collagen is actually what makes your lips look more enhanced. Most people find that their results last from one up to 3 years. When you feel you are ready, we can insert new threads or look at other treatment options such as the Injectables Lip Flip or Lip Filler.

Are there any problems with MINT Threads for the lips?

In most cases, this procedure is very well tolerated and does not cause any problems.

We try our uttermost to prevent bruising and swelling under any circumstances. Please also read Dr Nadja Haub’s blog on what you can do at home to prevent bruising before and after your appointment.

But because the procedure involves placing a thread under the skin, sometimes, despite our best efforts, bruising can happen. This will always resolve within a few days.

Very rarely, this procedure can trigger the formation of a cold sore. We will always ask you if you easily get cold sores. If this is the case, Dr Nadja Haub will prescribe acyclovir tablets to you. You will only have to take two tablets to prevent any cold sores.

The most common problem is mild bruising and swelling after the procedure and probably happens in 10% of people who have this treatment. In most cases, you should be able to cover this with some make-up or lipstick.

Very rarely, the threads can become visible through your skin. If this was the case, there are several options for treating this complication. One option would be to wait until the thread dissolves on its own. Because the threads dissolve faster when they get hot, you can apply heat packs and gentle massage or simply go to the sauna. In extremely rare cases, we can remove the thread.

MINT Thread Lip Enhancement

What is better-lip filler or MINT Threads?

That is a really difficult question to answer. It really depends on what you are after and how you would like to enhance your lips.

If you already have full lips and just want to make them look more beautiful and enhance them, then MINT Threads would certainly be a good treatment option. Whereas if you have thin lips that require volume, we would recommend you to have lip filler.

Both procedures are quite safe if performed by an aesthetic doctor and only require minimal downtime. And both procedures have their own Pros and Cons. If you are not quite sure what would be the best treatment option for your lips, we would recommend you speak to a cosmetic doctor.
